2011 Audi Q7 Packing the same supercharged 3.0-liter V6 found in the S4 sports sedan, Audi bids adieu (or is that Auf Wiedersehen?) to the 3.6-liter V6 and 4.2-liter V8 for the 2011 model year and brings with it the 2011 A8′s eight-speed automatic transmission. The base engine in the 2011 Audi Q7 is a low-output version of the company’s 3.0-liter TFSI V6 rated at 272 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. Look for a 0-60-mph time in the high-7-second range, says Audi.

The new 3.0 TFSI gasoline engine embodies Audi’s downsizing strategy: replacing engine displacement with supercharging. Within the 90-degree angle formed by its cylinder blocks there is an engine-driven supercharger that compresses the intake air. Two charge-air intercoolers prevent the air temperature from rising, so that the engine draws in more oxygen for the combustion process. Vigorous thrust and spontaneous throttle response make the 3.0 TFSI engine, with its sonorous note, an ideal source of power for the large high-performance SUV from Audi.

The front grill will now be hexagonal in shape, with a series of LED driving lights on either side. New for the next generation Audi SUV will be an all-new 2.0 Liter TFSI motor that will put out 210 HP. All of the familiar engine options will be back as well. Except for the alternatively fueled, the extremely torquey, V12 TDI version will be dropped for the future.

In the Q7, the entry-level 3.0 TFSI makes 272 hp and produces 295 lb-ft of torque—down eight horses but up 29 lb-ft from the 3.6-liter’s 266. The stronger Q7’s 3.0 makes 333 hp and produces 325 lb-ft of torque, a 17-hp deficit compared to the outgoing V-8 but matching it in the torque column. Top speed with the new engines is 140 and 152 mph, respectively.

2011 Audi Q7 V6 TDI will retain its 225 hp / 406 lb-ft rating and launch with the new eight-speed in September. The gasoline V6 TFSI will also be available here in both 272 and 333 hp flavors beginning in November 2010.

The 2011 Audi Q7 is the large Audi for the sporty individualist – the high-performance SUV for sport, leisure, family and business. Now Audi has made it even more powerful and efficient, with a choice of three new V6 engines and an 8-speed tiptronic transmission.

2011 Audi Q7 Specifications:

  • Pricing: The 2011 Audi Q7 should not be priced significantly higher than the previous year’s model, MSRP: 46,900
  • Engine: A new, powerful 2.0-liter TFSI engine is expected that will generate 210 horsepower but with high torque for excellent acceleration. The V12 TDI engine that was available in previous years will be no longer available.
  • Fuel Economy: Fuel economy for the Q7 is not expected to be particularly high for its class, running between 14/21 city/highway miles per gallon.
  • Acceleration: The engine for the 2011 Q7 has a lot to overcome in the Q7’s substantial curb weight and size and this is reflected in the approximately 8 second acceleration time from zero to sixty miles per hour.
  • Transmission:All engine choices are expected to be mated with a six-speed automatic transmission that has manual shift control.
  • Car Safety Features: Audi never fails when it comes to car safety. In 2010 the Q7 delivered perfection in government crash tests getting five out of five stars for both frontal and side-impact results.
  • Warranty: Audi’s standard 5-year/60,000 warranty will back the 2011 Q7.

New 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro Car Review

2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro Car is already an exceptional sports car. The combination of its stunning appearance, outstanding performance and general livability are plenty to be proud of, but the folks in Ingolstadt weren’t quite satisfied. As a result, they’ve produced the 2010 Audi R8 5.2 FSI – or simply put, a ten-cylinder R8.

new low-cost 1.8 Audi TFSI TT Roadster in the UK

Audi UK sold 100,845 cars in 2008, and this year it wants to sell even more. But how can the automaker pull that off in days like these? By putting its smaller 1.8-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine in the TT Roadster (since the Brits just looooove their convertibles), thereby creating a car that is more economical, environmentally friendly and, hopefully, almost as fun as its 2.0 TFSI brother.
The four-pot’s 158-horsepower, 184-lb-ft works through a six-speed manual and pulls from 0-to-62 mph in 7.4 seconds and maxes out at a top speed of 139 mph. The car’s single trim specification offers 17-inch Y-design alloy wheels, a power top with heated glass rear window, power wind deflector, power windows and mirrors, Tetrus cloth upholstery, climate control and a Chorus CD audio system.
The TT Roadster 1.8 can be ordered now with an on-the-road price pegged at £23,910 ($34,717 USD), versus £27,355 ($39,748 USD) for the 2.0 TFSI. Deliveries will begin in April and the full press release from Audi is after the jump.I love it that they always post a direct conversion just so we get to see which nubbies actually think that’s what it would sell for in the US.

    Audi R15 TDI new images

The Audi R15 TDI should be hitting the track competitively for the first time next week at the 12 Hours of Sebring. The new diesel-powered racer will be running against the Peugeot 908 HDi and Acura’s new ARX-02a next Saturday. The oil-burning Audi and Peugeot will be competing under modified LMP1 rules that have cut their wing widths by 40 mm (for all P1 cars) and reduced the size of their air restrictors and amount of turbo boost pressure for the diesels. The new R15, which replaces the very successful R10, has been optimized with a reduction in weight, radically new aerodynamics and an all-new powertrain to work with the new rules while still trying to outrun the Peugeots.

The R10′s old 5.5L V12 has been replaced in the R15 by a smaller V10 of unknown displacement for greater efficiency and improved packaging. The car’s electrical system now uses a lithium-ion battery, again for reduced mass compared to a lead battery. As far as we know, Audi is not planning to use a hybrid KERS system on the R15. Contrary to some information released by an unnamed Audi official at the Geneva Motor Show last week, the R15 will only run at Sebring next week and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in July. The last two ALMS races at Road Atlanta and Laguna Seca are not part of Audi’s game plan at this time.

WTF!!! While I can’t wait to see this car run at Sebring, (on TIVO, since I will be out of the country on business next weekend), I was really looking forward to seeing it run in person at Laguna Seca. C’mon Audi, throw us (us as in U.S.) Audi fans a bone a do more ALMS races!
